This week I am delighted to bring you, with their permission, some photos and videos from a great website Killorglinarchives.com. The aim of the Killorglin Archive Society is collecting, collating and archiving old photographs, recordings and films that capture the essence of life in Killorglin parish over the last century. But there is much more than photos on the Killorglin Archives site. The aim is to preserve the history and folklore of this historic part of Kerry. There are photographic, video and audio posts that will be of interest to both the native and the diaspora. Irish and local history are well described.

Thanks for sharing these great “slice of life” photos!
Thank you Kathleen for sharing this and congratulations to the Killorglin people. Such a worthy project. Wouldn’t it be great if other towns and villages would do something similar. Helen
Helen, it is great to see such voluntary effort by different areas. There is a tremendous interest now in local history and heritage all over the county. Kay
Lovely pictures,I was looking for family members – Shelia Ann Moriarty.
Jane thank you. Have you logged on to the Killorglin History website? A very good group there and they update their images regularly. Kay
I was recently visiting Killorglin, the hometown of my grandmother Elizabeth Violet Taylor. (Lily Taylor). She was the sister of Annie Isabelle Taylor (Daisy Taylor). Daisy inherited the small B and B hotel on the corner of the main road through town and New Line Road. In 2016 a new memorial was erected in the memory of the Tradgedy at Ballysiveen Pier. It is a very well done memorial. Great job!!! I would like to mention that the name of the Taylor girl whom Charlie Monaghan asked directions of that night was my grandmother, Elizabeth Violet Taylor (Lily) not (Daisy). Daisy was my grandmother’s sister and she would have been about 12 or so in 1916. My grandmother told me of this event when I was a young girl! Thought I would mention this for posterity.
Thanks! Maureen Moore Calgary, Alberta Canada ( Proud of my Irish roots!☘️)

I am very interested in Killorglin and surounding area, my Grand parents and relatives were from Kerry and Cork, surnames were, LOGAN, PRENDERGAST, O’SULLIVAN, BUTLER, BROWN, HURLEY. LEE, SHEARN, RIORDAN and lots of others, one thing I am looking for is a marriage for Bridget O’Sullivan and a Patrick Bartholomew Riodan, 2 Feb 1903, any info would be great.
Dear Robert,, There is a marriage record dated 22 February 1903 for a Bridgid Sullivan, Glounagillagh (father John Sullivan) to Patrick Riordan, Tullig Lr. ( father Batt Riordan). You have a date of 2 Feb 1903 so not sure if this is who you are looking for. They were married in Killorglin in the presence of Batt Riordan & Mary Sullivan. Same can be viewed on Irish Genealogy Kind regards Ann https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil
